We're looking for our first writer
We make short videos for small UK businesses, and every script starts with a person. We'd like that person to be you.
You live in social media, you notice what makes a short video work, and you'd enjoy helping small businesses get noticed.
Why a writer
An AI presenter can speak any script you give it. What it can't do is tell whether a line sounds right.
Once, the model said "what it do" instead of the words we'd written. Only a person listening caught it. That's the job, and it's why a good writer matters more here, not less.
Today we draft with AI and a person reads every script. We'd like to put a writer at the centre of that.
The work
- Scripts of about 65 words, for videos of up to 30 seconds.
- Written to be spoken, in short sentences, in a presenter's own voice.
- Built from a client's real business and the questions their customers ask.
- Listening to test takes, then rewriting the lines that don't land.
- Helping plan each month's videos, so they work together as a way to get noticed.
Who we're looking for
- Someone who watches, makes or manages social content, and has views on what works.
- Real writing skill, however you came by it: a degree in scriptwriting, professional work, or things you've written and put out yourself. You don't need professional credits.
- A good ear for how people really talk.
- Interest in small businesses and how they get found online.
You don't need any experience with AI. We'll show you how we work with it as a teammate.
How a script gets made
Every script goes through the same steps. Each one is written for a single client's business, and nothing is made until the client has said yes.
- The brief. We send you the client's facts, the questions their customers ask, the presenter's voice, and what the client wants from the month.
- Your first draft. We use AI as a teammate for research and first options. You decide what's said.
- The client's yes.Every claim is the client's own or approved by them. They sign off the script before anything is made.
- Test takes. We test the tricky words first, and you listen with us. If a line sounds wrong, you fix it.
- The final read.A person reads the script one last time before it's generated.
Turnaround
We promise our clients each video within five working days of their sign-off. So scripts can't be the slow part, and we ask for a steady pace.
- A first draft within two working days of the brief.
- One round of rewrites, within one working day of feedback.
- For a batch of scripts, we agree the dates with you up front.
What you get
- Real briefs for real businesses, and scripts that get made and published.
- A named credit on your published scripts, where the client agrees.
- The right to show your published scripts in your portfolio, once the client has agreed.
- A craft that's in demand: writing for the ear, in a few words, for a synthetic voice.
- A say in how we work. As our first writer, you'll help shape the process.
- A say in our presenters' voices. When we bring Odette and Theo forward, you'll help decide how they sound.
- A reference from us.
We can't promise a lot of work, or a path up the ladder. We can promise real work, fairly paid, and your name on it where the client agrees.
The deal
This is freelance work. You're paid a fixed fee for each script, agreed before you start, and it includes the rewrite round.
We launched on 1 October 2026 and we're growing with our clients. Work comes as they do, so to begin with there won't be much of it. We'd rather tell you that now.
You can do the work from home. We're after UK-based writers, as our clients are UK businesses.
What you'll need
- A laptop, tablet or phone that can open documents and play video.
- An email address and a reliable internet connection.
- Headphones or good speakers, because you'll listen to test takes.
- A quiet place to read your scripts aloud.
You don't need an AI account or any special software. We'll give you the brief and anything else you need in a shared document.
Clients trust us with the facts about their business, so we'll set out confidentiality, and who owns the scripts, in writing before you start.
How to apply
Send us a few lines about you, links to anything you've written or made, and one short test. Write a script of about 60 words for a local business talking to camera. A garage, a bakery, a hairdresser. You choose.
Email us
That opens an email with those questions ready to answer. If nothing opens, just write to [email protected] in your own words.
